So in 1892 the Barone Theodor von Wundt distinguished writer, photographer and mountaineer describes his favorite Dolomite Mountain Guide.

The great Michele Bettega is the first mountain guide of Pale, with him begins the epic of the Eagles of San Martino, a long and great history that has lasted for well over a century and goes hand in hand with the evolving alpine mountain home, the Pale, and with the tourist development of a pearl of the Dolomites as San Martino di Castrozza with its valley of Primiero.

From the first strong poker of mountain guides (in addition to Michele Bettega were soon added Giuseppe Zecchini, Antonio Tavernaro and Bortolo Zagonel also great guides of those times) new mountain guides generations have followed, joining always the great passion for its mountains and for extreme climbing.
